Le Puy-en-Velay is a commune in south-central France near the Loire river. The city is famous for its cathedral where you’ll see the flat volcanic stone has since been known as the “Fever Stone” because of miraculous healing associated with it. There’s also the Black Virgin as well as frescoes and paintings worth seeing.
Lace-making played a prominent role in the economic life of the town occupying the middle-class families and leading citizens of the town. You can see a video on bobbin lace-making at The Bobbin Lace Teaching Centre as well as viewing and exhibition and demonstration.
