It is located south of the center of the city of Ghent in the province of East Flanders in the Flemish Region. It is a station of the National Company of Belgian Railways (SNCB) served by InterCity (IC), Suburban (S), Omnibus (L) and Rush Hour (P ).It is the third-busiest in Belgium, with 17.65 million passengers a year.
The station is about 2 kilometers from downtown. The closest stops to the city centre are the Korenmark or Gravensteen.
